A Note About Blending

Blending essential oils is a whole art and science on its own. Most notably, the sequence in which you blend your oils will make a difference in how that blend smells and performs.

Please follow the sequence of how the oils are listed in my recipes. If Lemon essential oil is mentioned first, start with that oil. Then add the number of drops of the next oil on the list, and so on.

Once you have the basics down, it’s easy for anyone – even beginners – to create their own custom scents that are perfect for them. No matter what kind of lifestyle or personality you have, there is a blend out there that will be perfect for you!

How to Use Essential Oil Blends for Relaxation

I love to use essential oils in different ways to help me unwind. Sometimes, you don’t want the actual scent of the oils on you like perfume. And sometimes, you do!

That’s why it’s neat to know a few different ways in which you can benefit from the therapeutic benefits of a relaxing essential oil blend.

  • Put a few drops in your essential oil diffuser for 30 minutes before bedtime
  • Use a diffuser bracelet, wear it all day
  • Make essential oil candles and use them when you need to unwind
  • Create a DIY reed diffuser and place in a small area such as your bathroom or home office
  • Spritz into the air using a homemade aromatherapy spray
  • Mix 2-3 drops in a teaspoon of carrier oil and apply anywhere on your body
  • Make a massage oil for stress relief, get your partner to rub your shoulders

Safety Precautions

While essential oils offer numerous benefits, it’s crucial to use them safely to avoid potential irritation or adverse effects. Here are some important safety precautions to keep in mind:

  • Dilute with a Carrier Oil: If you plan to apply oils to your skin, always dilute essential oils with a carrier oil, such as coconut or jojoba oil. This helps prevent irritation and ensures safe application.
  • Avoid Sensitive Areas: Don’t apply essential oils to sensitive areas like the eyes, ears, or private areas.
  • Keep Out of Reach of Children and Pets: Essential oils can be toxic if ingested, so store them safely away from children and pets.
  • Consult with a Healthcare Professional: If you have medical conditions such as epilepsy, high blood pressure, or allergies, consult with a healthcare professional before using essential oils. This is also advisable if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or taking regular medication.

Storing and Handling Essential Oils

I store my Simply Earth oils in a beatufiul wooden box that I can close to keep the oils in complete darkness.

Proper storage and handling of essential oils are essential to maintain their quality and potency. Here are some tips to ensure your oils remain effective:

  • Store in a Cool, Dark Place: Keep your essential oils in a cool, dark place, away from direct sunlight and heat sources, to preserve their integrity.
  • Use Dark Glass Bottles: Store essential oils in dark glass bottles to protect them from light and heat, which can degrade the oil.
  • Keep Tightly Sealed: Ensure that essential oil bottles are tightly sealed to prevent oxidation and contamination.
  • Handle with Clean Hands: Always handle essential oils with clean hands to avoid contaminating the oil.
  • Use Sparingly: Remember that essential oils are highly concentrated. Use just a few drops at a time to achieve the desired effect.

By following these guidelines, you can enjoy the full benefits of your essential oils while ensuring their longevity and effectiveness.

Final Thoughts

Essential oils are a fantastic natural remedy, and many people have come to enjoy and use them daily.

Please make sure you use good quality, pure essential oils, such as the ones recommended here. You can only expect to enjoy therapeutic benefits from a certain grade of essential oil.
