car freshener spray DIY recipeMany of us like to use air freshener sprays around the home, and traditionally, the choice is towards a commercially produced product. Why is this? Traditional air fresheners contain harmful chemicals that you can really live without. Making your own air freshener spray isn’t hard to do, and with the use and knowledge of essential oils and aromatherapy, this can become a really fun and crafty experience!

Have you always thought that making a DIY car or room freshener is hard to do? It isn’t, and I’m going to give you an easy recipe to follow.

I’m going to give you an easy recipe to follow for a superb-smelling DIY car freshener spray using essential oils. You’ll create a car freshener spray that’s made of all-natural ingredients and small enough to keep in your glove compartment.

Air Quality Matters!

In today’s era, the air pollution levels are increased. Inside air pollution can actually be even higher than outside air pollution as many homes include pets, frequent airborne illnesses such as cold and flu, or seasonal cough.

To balance the harmful effects of air pollution, you’ll want to regularly circulate fresh outside air into your home, and clean and disinfect areas that frequently create musky smells, such as bathrooms, couches, shoe mats, mudrooms or entryways. I also like to freshen up the kitchen area after a heavy cooking session because our stove fan doesn’t seem to always get rid of all the smells (especially come Sunday morning bacon breakfast time)!

Considering your health and the health of your home a priority, I’ll show you how to make a DIY car air freshener that you can easily make at home.

Have ever thought of making a car or room freshener on your own?

Keep this freshener in the glove compartment of your car and use as needed to kill harmful germs and enhance the fragrance in your vehicle. If you’ve always thought that making a DIY car or room freshener is hard, I’m going to show you that it really isn’t!

Why It Works

Even though this recipe is quite simple, the only thing you need to make sure of, is the quantity of all the ingredients. Please don’t use the cheapest essential oils available on Amazon. If you expect germ-killing air-freshening results, use one of these top 10 recommended essential oil brands.

To create a perfect DIY car freshener spray, put in the exact amount mentioned above. If you’d like to know why this recipe is effective, here are more details about the ingredients of this recipe:

Eucalyptus Essential Oil primarily consists of 1, eight eucalyptol, also known as, cineole, a-Pinene, (+) – Limonene, Globulol, and (E) – Pinocarveol. However, out of all the primary ingredients of this oil, cineole is the key ingredient responsible for its aroma. This essential oil is mostly known for its beautiful benefits for respiratory applications including the ease in congestion and pressure, cold, flu, fever and bronchitis. Additionally, therapeutically this oil is beneficial for respiratory health and pain relief.

Aromatically, it has a fresh, woody and bright medicinal aroma which is useful in dispelling sadness, reviving the mind and promoting a sense of positivity. Furthermore, Eucalyptus is a great choice to use in massage, and other topical blends to ease muscular pain and arthritis. Though you can quickly get this oil from the market, in case, it is not readily available; you can buy it from here.

Instantly, recognizable peppermint essential oil primarily consists of menthol, menthone, Menthyl acetate, Neomenthol, 1, 8 -Cineole, and Menthofuran, and beneficial for skin, hair and general health while using with carrier oils. The antimicrobial action of this oil freshens and balances irritated and acne-prone skin. As a scalp treatment, it also stimulates microcirculation to boost hair growth while reducing greasiness. Furthermore, the cold and tingling action of this oil along with anti-spasmodic and anti-inflammatory benefits relieve pain, cramps and makes it an excellent choice for sports and workout massage.

The Natural Menthol present in this essential oil provides effective relief from respiratory issues such as nasal congestion, sinusitis, asthma, bronchitis, cold and cough. Even the incredibly reviving scent helps soothe a headache, PMS, and nausea. Additionally, this oil helps improve mental clarity and energy levels.

Distilled Water

Water is an essential source for a human body. In fact, more than 70% of a human body consists of water. So, even after not providing calories or nutrients, it is vital for all forms of life.

However, water also contains bacteria and micro-organisms. For regular consumption, this isn’t a problem. But for DIY recipes where water will be left sitting for any amount of time, bacterial growth isn’t desirable. Any recipe that contains regular tap water has the potential to spoil, mold, or grow bacteria if left for any amount of time. Because of this, please use distilled water rather than tap water to make air freshener sprays for your car. You can learn some more valuable tips about working with water in DIY recipes here.

Spray Bottle

The fourth and last ingredient of this recipe is a spray bottle which you require to spray the freshener in your car to kill the bacteria responsible for creating musky smells. You can quickly get a spray bottle online from Amazon. However, if you already have a collection of old bottles at your home, then preferably re-purpose one of them. Re-purposing is beneficial to help save the environment from excessive wastes.

In Summary

This DIY car freshener spray recipe is not only simple, but also natural and organic. So, to enjoy the fresh smell, you also try this recipe at home. Also, take my 21-day challenge to learn more easy ways to use your essential oils.

Don’t forget: use 3-5 sprays of this delightful smelling all-purpose disinfectant spray to keep your car feel fresh all the time. Make sure you shake well before each use.

Enjoy!
