Fill your diffuser with water to the max line. Most diffusers take somewhere around 150-200 mL of water. Add the recommended oils directly into the diffuser. Multiply the drops if you have a larger diffuser unit.

Try one of these blends:

Spring Clean Bathroom Diffuser Blend

Tub and Tile Scrub

For a DIY tub and tile scrub, mix baking soda, castile soap, white vinegar, and your choice of essential oils in a wide-mouth container. Apply the scrub to the surface of the tub or tile and scrub with a sponge or brush. Here are the details:

Ingredients

  • 1 cup baking soda
  • 1/4 cup liquid castile soap
  • 10 drops of tea tree essential oil
  • 10 drops of lemon essential oil
  • 5 drops of lavender essential oil
  • 1/4 cup white vinegar
  • Water (as needed)

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the baking soda and liquid castile soap. Mix well until you have a smooth paste-like consistency.
  2. Add the tea tree, lemon, and lavender essential oils to the mixture. These oils have natural antibacterial properties and will help to freshen up your tub and tiles. Stir thoroughly to ensure the oils are evenly distributed.
  3. Slowly pour in the white vinegar while continuing to mix. The vinegar will react with the baking soda, creating a gentle foaming action that helps to remove grime and soap scum.
  4. If the mixture is too thick, add water gradually until you reach a spreadable consistency. Be cautious not to make it too runny.
  5. Once you have the desired consistency, it’s time to start scrubbing! Apply the mixture onto your tub and tiles using a sponge or scrub brush. Focus on areas with built-up dirt or stains.
  6. Let the scrub sit on the surfaces for a few minutes to allow the ingredients to work their magic. This will help loosen the grime and make it easier to clean.
  7. Grab your scrub brush and begin scrubbing the tub and tiles in circular motions. Apply some extra pressure on stubborn stains or areas that need more attention.
  8. After thoroughly scrubbing the surfaces, rinse everything with warm water. Make sure to remove all traces of the scrub.
  9. Take a clean cloth or sponge and wipe down the tub and tiles to remove any remaining residue.
  10. Admire your sparkling clean tub and tiles! The essential oils will leave a refreshing scent behind, making your bathroom smell lovely.

Remember to store any leftover scrub in an airtight container for future use. This DIY tub and tile scrub is an effective and natural way to keep your bathroom clean and fresh.

Daily Shower Spray

This spray is easy to make and use, and it will help keep your shower smelling great and free of mildew.

Aromatherapy for Relaxation in the Bathroom

Using essential oils for aromatherapy in the bathroom can help create a calming and relaxing atmosphere, perfect for unwinding after a long day. The easiest way to enjoy your oils while relaxing, is to use oils in a bath, or in a diffuser.

Bath Time Bliss Bath Salts

Make essential oil bath salts for a relaxing aromatherapy experience.

To make bath time bliss bath salts, mix 1 cup of Epsom salt, 1/2 cup of natural sea salt, and 20-30 drops of your favorite essential oils for a luxurious spa-like experience. You can also add 2-3 tablespoons of dried herbs for an extra special touch.

Store the bath salts in an airtight jar for up to 24 months to ensure the best results.

Calming Bathroom Diffuser Blends

Create a soothing atmosphere in your bathroom with calming bathroom diffuser blends. Combine a few drops of lavender, bergamot, and ylang ylang essential oils in an aromatherapy diffuser with the recommended amount of water.

The calming scents will help create a tranquil environment, perfect for relaxation and stress relief.

Essential Oil Safety and Storage

essential oil storage

Storing your essential oils properly helps them last longer.

When using essential oils in the bathroom, it is important to follow proper safety and storage practices to ensure the best results. Essential oils should be stored securely and out of reach of children, diluted to ensure the best possible results, and kept away from fire to ensure safety.

Proper Dilution

Proper dilution of essential oils is essential for achieving optimal safety and effectiveness. To dilute essential oils safely, mix them with a carrier oil in accordance with the recommended dilution guidelines.

For adults, a 2% dilution is ideal, which is 15 drops of essential oil per 6 teaspoons of carrier oil.

Safe Storage Practices

To maintain the quality and effectiveness of your essential oils, store them in dark glass containers tightly sealed, and kept in a cool, dry, and dark place away from heat, light, and oxygen.

Non-plastic containers can help preserve the quality and effectiveness of essential oils by preventing the leaching of chemicals.

Recipe Shelf Life

The shelf life of essential oil recipes can vary from 6-8 weeks to up to 6 months. Most DIY recipes don’t include any preservatives and as such, using up your creations sooner than later is recommended.
