peace and calming YL copycat blendAnytime I ask a Young Living fan to list their most-loved essential oils, the answer almost always includes: the Peace and Calming blend. And rightfully so: this essential oil blend is fabulous for relaxing!

So if you’ve ran out, want to use less expensive oils, or simply want to test your aromatherapy skills, follow along for my DIY peace and calming essential oil blend recipe.

Using essential oils in your home is a natural way to bring a sense of peace and relaxation into your space.

P.S. Peace and Calming is about as popular as the infamous Young Living Thieves (for which I also have a copycat recipe here, by the way).

How Essential Oils Calm the Nervous System

As a mom, your days are filled with endless responsibilities that can leave your nervous system in overdrive. Incorporating essential oils into your routine – whether through a diffuser, a calming roller blend, or a warm bath – can quickly soothe frazzled nerves and help you feel grounded again.

Out of all the different ways of using essential oils, inhaling is the simplest way to access your nervous system – quickly.

Our sense of smell is directly connected to the brain’s emotional and regulatory centers, allowing essential oils to create a calming effect almost instantly.

A carefully crafted peace and calming blend can:

organic essential oils from mountain rose herbs
  • Reduce feelings of stress and overwhelm. Certain oils help lower cortisol levels, reducing the “fight-or-flight” response.
  • Activate relaxation. Certain aromas stimulate the parasympathetic nervous system, triggering the body’s natural “rest-and-digest” mode.
  • Encourage restful sleep. Aromatherapy can soothe the mind, ease tension, and promote a serene bedtime atmosphere.
  • Create a serene environment during chaotic moments. Diffusing calming oils or applying them topically helps to make you pause, reflect on what you need, and make healthy choices by reaching for your oils.

DIY Peace & Calming Blend Recipe

The Young Living blend is made up of these 5 essential oils:

  • Tangerine: Uplifting and cheerful, its sweet citrus aroma can eas stress and encourage relaxation.
  • Sweet Orange: Adds a cheerful yet gentle citrus aroma that lifts the mood without overwhelming.
  • Ylang Ylang: Adds a floral, sweet scent that inspires feelings of joy and calm.
  • Patchouli: Earthy and grounding, it calms an overactive mind and fosters a sense of tranquility.
  • Blue Tansy: Known for its soothing properties, this floral oil helps release tension and promotes emotional balance.

How to Make the Blend

Here’s what you’ll need to create this peaceful “oasis in a bottle”:

  1. Start with a 10ml empty amber glass bottle. If you are repurposing a bottle, make sure it is properly cleaned and sanitized.
  2. Add the essential oils in the order listed.
  3. Secure the roller top and gently shake to mix.

Blend Ingredients

  • 20 drops Tangerine
  • 15 drops Sweet Orange
  • 10 drops Ylang Ylang
  • 10 drops Patchouli
  • 5 drops Blue Tansy

How to Use Your Peace and Calming Blend

  • On-the-Go Calm: Roll onto your wrists or behind your ears during stressful moments.
  • Bedtime Bliss: Apply to the soles of your feet or pulse points before bed.
  • Serene Spaces: Add a few drops to a diffuser to fill your home with calming vibes.
  • Inhale: Take a few deep breaths from the bottle or place a drop on a tissue for an on-the-go moment of calm.
  • Massage: Blend with a carrier oil and massage into your neck or temples for both aromatic and physical relaxation.

By tapping into the powerful connection between your sense of smell and your nervous system, essential oils offer a gentle, natural way to bring calm back into your day.

Safety Tips

  • Always patch-test before applying oils topically to ensure no skin sensitivity.
  • If using around young children, adjust the recipe for age-appropriate dilution. For babies under two, diffuse your blend instead of applying topically.
  • Store your blend in a cool, dark place to maintain its potency.

Final Thoughts

Smelling essential oils directly from the bottle totally works for a quick aromatherapy boost!

Creating your own blend allows you to control the ingredients, ensuring purity and avoiding synthetic additives. Plus, it’s a fraction of the cost of pre-made blends!

Moms, remember to take a moment for yourself. Your peace of mind is invaluable, and this blend can help you create a calming routine for you and your family.

I hope you enjoy!
